Mr. Velez has been a member of the California State Bar since December 1993. He received his law degree from the University of Iowa College of Law in May 1993. At Iowa, he earned membership on the Iowa Law Review and the Moot Court Board. Mr. Velez attended the University of California, Berkeley, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics in May 1986.

Before establishing his own practice, Mr. Velez worked as an attorney for Lafayette & Kumagai LLP in San Francisco and for Clapp, Moroney, Bellagamba & Vucinich in Daly City. Previously, Mr. Velez defended Fortune 500 corporations, public entities, insurance carriers, and small businesses in employment disputes, civil rights claims, wrongful death actions, products liability matters, and business disputes. Mr. Velez also served as a deputy public defender for the Sonoma County Public Defender’s Office and as a deputy district attorney for the Santa Cruz County District Attorney’s Office.

In addition to being a member of the California State Bar, Mr. Velez is admitted to practice before the United States Courts of Appeal for the Ninth Circuit and the United States District Courts for the Northern, Eastern, and Central Districts of California.
